On the importance of data-driven health care:<\/em><\/p>

\u201cI believe in a properly functioning, publicly funded health-care system. We\u2019re really struggling with that in Canada right now. You can\u2019t manage a system unless you know what\u2019s happening.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

On expanding surgical capacity:<\/em><\/p>

\u201cWith our current government, we were able to open the program up in Selkirk, doing another 800 joints a year, and that was largely because of the quality of the data that we had.\u201d<\/p>

On patient impact:<\/em><\/p>

\u201cOur patients are an average age of 67 and they come to you miserable. They can\u2019t walk. They can\u2019t play with their grandkids. They can\u2019t travel. You do an operation\u2014it takes 40 minutes\u2014and they\u2019re forever grateful.\u201d<\/p>
